From Shipowner to Freight Forwarder: The ARMARA Story

Based in Aix-en-Provence, our team combines deep maritime expertise with an agile approach to serve complex industrial transport needs worldwide.

ARMARA Projects was founded on one conviction: complex project logistics require more than transport. They require experience,  control and commitment.
 
That conviction was earned at sea. Our founder, Floris Schorsch, began his career at CMA CGM, one of the world’s leading shipping groups, serving as Owner’s Representative before heading the heavy lift and XXL cargo department at the group’s Marseille headquarters.
In 2011, he founded Martin Bencher France, the French arm of the Danish project forwarding specialist, and led it for more than a decade.
 
Then came ARMARA. It started as a shipping company, born from a passion for the sea and for vessels, operating a modern box-shaped, ice-class ship across European short sea routes. Carrying dry bulk, general cargo and project cargo taught us something most forwarders never learn: what it actually takes to load, secure and move industrial cargo, from the deck up.
 
ARMARA Projects is the natural extension of that experience. Where ARMARA Shipping owned and operated tonnage, ARMARA Projects designs the full transport solution around your cargo, chartering the right vessel for the job whether it belongs to us or not.
 
Being a shipowner changes how we work. We read a stowage plan the way a captain does. We know what a charter party really commits you to. When we quote a heavy lift or out-of-gauge shipment, we are not guessing at costs, we have lived them.
 
Headquartered in Aix-en-Provence, minutes from Marseille and one of Europe’s oldest maritime crossroads, we specialize in vessel chartering for heavy lift, out-of-gauge cargo and oversized industrial equipment.
